Institute of Informatization and Human Information Behavior, Peking University was founded on November 15, 2007. It is a non-profit comprehensive research and advisory organization. Pacific Securities Co., Ltd. provided the start-up funds for the institute.
The institute is aiming at popularizing and applying the theories, research methods and achievements of the research on different kinds of information behavior of different groups, and providing practical help for people to make scientific decisions for information activities that are in different fields and on different levels; developing the human-oriented thought in the informatization, and providing intellectual support for the transition to the information society in China.
The primary missions of the institute are academic research and exchange. There are 4 main research directions as followings:
The missions of the institute also include talents training and team development. To meet the needs of the institute development and cooperation projects, we will collect and train a high-level, influential, relatively stable academic group which is mainly composed of young and middle-aged researchers. In the meanwhile, we also offer courses and give lectures for students to encourage them to take part in academic activities.
Project cooperation and consulting services are also the important missions of the institute. We seek out cooperation projects and accept commissions or outsourcing. In addition, we conduct research, behavior survey and expert consultation. Further more, we are concerned about momentous public policies and important society problems, and play an important role in the research on them. The institute will expand its social impact and social resources through cooperating and providing services.
